We don’t hand down family recipes any more. That’s not a bad thing | Life and style | The Guardian

I read this article and instantly agreed with Mr Rayner as soon as I found myself reminiscing about my mum’s pasta salad or beef stew and dumplings!

As much as my mum was a good cook, there’s certain recipes that as a grown-up (of sorts) and in control of my own kitchen, I cannot bear to make — stuffed peppers being one of them.

She did however hand down a love of food and a certain bravery to try new things. If a recipe doesn’t work, amend it to your taste, or simply try something different.

This bravery has passed down to my son who although has no interest in ever cooking, is quite willing to try my creations — even when they’re probably his future stuffed peppers!
